Schools' Back

Noooooo.
Holidays are over. Three months has flew by and now it's time for me to knuckle down and be studious yet again. Before I inform you on the nitty-gritty university stuff, I want to share with you what I got up to in my last few weeks of fun.

Nanuk Playtime.
We did lots of it! If I ever had spare time it was like, "Can we pleeeeease go walk Nanuk", or, "Can we pleeeeease go wash Nanuk", or "Can we pleeeeease go pat Nanuk", to the point where Matthew would cave like, "Argh okay! I swear you like that dog more than I do".

I quietly think to myself, " Perhaps I like that dog more than YOU. But Shh". That's a joke, sort of. So, we took Nanuk for her very first walk and so many more since then.

She's very obedient and hardly needs the leash. My ultimate favourite thing to do with my giant snow puppy is to walk her to the dog park!

At the dog park she bounds, bounces and bops other dogs. It's awesome seeing her play and I like to chase her around and throw sticks for her, in the faint hope that she might chase it....and retrieve it...which she doesn't. YET

"Nanuk, you listen to your mother. You will chase that stick and bring it back okay?!"

"But I just want your tummy rubs mum!"

"Awww okay. Cuddle time it is."

Cuddles all round. Nanuk seems to like Matthew more than me. This is unacceptable so I am instigating a very sneaky plan. You see, I have a bag of delicious crunchy dog biscuits. I plan on giving Nanuk a treat every time I see her, so she will get SO excited when she sees me, thinking it's treat time, that I will receive equal love as Matthew. Fool proof, I know right.

How could she not love me. All I do is smother her and cover  her in wet sloppy kisses every time I see her.
Alright enough about the dog. I did do SOME other things on my holidays.

I ate food lots. Sort of regularly, like three times a day. Bizarre really. However this food isn't just ANY food. This is delicious, hand picked by us, cooked by Matthew and covered in Nando's sauce food. Now you understand. The cute domestic fun of going to the grocery store and umming over different cuts of meat and vegetables, then taking it home and watching Matthew cook for me in my kitchen. So good.

I did my fair share of the work too! I lit candles every night. Lots of candles! I also put toothpicks through our burger buns and spiked an olive and a handcut love heart on each of our burgers. I like doing the cute details.

Lastly, the other cool thing that got done before university went back, was my whiteboards

I've always whinged about wanting whiteboards in my room so I wouldn't have to make those study posters I've shown you guys before. Well, with the help of handy Matty, we went to Bunnings Warehouse, bought three 1200 x 900 sheets of clear perspex and 5 cans of white spray paint and presto! About 5 hours later, Matthew finished my shiny smooth whiteboards, screwed them into my walls and went off to go nurse his very tired hands.

Now, the idea behind these whiteboards brings me back to university talk. I spent about $150 (maybe more) on those whiteboards because I aspire to do, very very well at university this semester. Let me explain why.

My lifelong dream/goal since I can remember is to become a vet. That's my thing. To study veterinarian studies you must get an OP1 or equivalent score at university and then transfer into the course. I didn't get an OP1 in high school, so I am studying at university trying to get a GPA of 5.8.

This is achievable, it just takes sacrifice. I'm currently on 5.5 and am enrolled in only three subjects this semester (instead of four), because I'm thinking the extra time will allow me to focus more and study harder on the subjects I have. I have to get one 6 and two 7's (on a scale from 2 - 7 where 4 is 50% pass) which means I must get at least 80% and above right over the entire subject. Hard! But this is my goal.

The truly exciting thing is, if I do really really well in then first semester (6months) of university, I won't have to do a second semester because my marks will be good enough. I could take half a gap year, have a holiday and reward myself. I want that pretty badly.

So that is my current situation. You'll understand when I don't blog regularly because I shall be studying, so that I can blog to you for 6 MONTHS if I achieve my goal. That was the last few weeks of my holidays, I hope yours were equally interesting.

Take Care
Melanie xx
