Step back! Bet you didn't think I was game enough to do it - heck, I didn't think I was game enough to do it. But I did it!
I went full rebellious!
Little miss goody two shoes took a walk on the wild side on Wednesday night, but I'll tell you the whole story because I'm sure you love the goss.

Aherm (clears throat). One of my friends at work is leaving to go back to Brazil at the end of this week, so on Wednesday we had planned a big get-together with the work girls to celebrate.
I hadn't heard much talk about the details close to leaving time so I called her up just to make sure. It went a little like this;
"Hello? This is Gemma"
"Gemma! HELLO!"
"Hey, what's the plans for tonight, who'se coming?"
"OHH, No-one is coming! I hate them all, they said they would."
"What? Really? Oh well I'll still come! When do we meet?"
"O-oh! Urm, 15minutes"
"Okay!"
Turns out her and the other Brazilian babes were lying around watching TV and they had to jump up and get dressed up. I rocked up to Southbank Cinemas in skinny jeans, a black ruched sleeve top and bootie flats with my favourite black bag.
Jealousy. Everyone was dressed up and rushing off to the last session of Harry Potter. . . Damn. But it was okay because three gorgeous ladies strutted up to the doors so I jumped up to meet them.
"Ohh you look so cute!"
(Cue squirmy embarrassed blush - Gemma dies inside)
The girls were totally dressed up! Heels, skirts, gorgeous gorgeous all over. Damn! It's hard judging whether to go casual or glam so I chose in between.
We decided to hit Max Brenner's while we waited for our friend to come in 30min, but the time flew in the very lengthy line. We chatted about lots of things (don't seem to find time to do this while working) and they mentioned a special Brazilian Party on tonight in the city. Tempting, I said it would be so much fun, but I highly doubted seeing myself getting into an 18+ venue to go dancing! (Oh, that's a joke)
Suddenly arms encased me from behind and I had the life almost squeezed out of me. YAY! Our other friend had arrived just in time as we ordered chocolate heaven.
Munch, munch munch. Obesity! Hooray. It was lovely taking the effort and time to meet up before she left, I was so glad I did. We ring up our friend's boyfriend and invite him down to join us. While we wait, the Brazilian Party gets brought up again.
"Awww, can we go! It'll be my last Brazilian Party in Australia! PLEASE"
"Man that would be fun. . . but we're (me and my friend) not 18"
"It's okay, we know the security and can totally get you in"
(dubious expressions)
Somehow, I don't even remember how, we decided to go. We dashed off to the bathroom, whipped out make-up and got our sexy on for the party.
Too late to second guess it now! We all look awesome, the boyfriend arrived (much to his shock that the invitation included going dancing) and we walked across the city to the entrance. The whole way I was so excited singing "We're going Brazilian dancing! To meet Brazilian Boys!", much to our friends amusement.
Now for the tricky bit. The girls greeted the security who knew them and were their friends with hugs and kisses while me and my friend said hey in very 'mature' voices. Acting calm, there was an awkward moment where my brain is saying,
"Do I stand here, do I walk in, Oh lord! Don't think just go!"
So me and my friend literally walked after our Brazilian friends straight into the place with not a question asked.
Boom Fucking Tish.
It was the coolest place ever. Ever! A live band singing and playing music in a language I had not a clue about and lots of dancing! Not club dancing, no no, you couldn't get away with an awkward bump and grind here. It was all footwork, hip swaying and partner dancing. Intense!
But we learnt through extreme observation and our friends teaching us and before you knew it, me and my friend were the two Aussie girls doing not a bad job of dancing along.
It was so impressive that one of the band members wanted to get to know me and my friends grabbed me and whispered to me, "My friend wants to meet you! He's shy, but he likes you"
I'm thinking, What!? What do I do? Do I want to do this?
Realisation - I am single, having the time of my life and totally sociable. Bring it on!
So he came over and we did the special greeting which by now I've caught onto after the first few awkward attempts. Hug and kiss in that fancy posh way.
"Hi, what's your name"
"I'm Gemma" (smiles)
"What?"
(gets closer) "Gemma! My name is Gemma"
"Oh! Is this your first time here?"
"Mhm!" (continues to dance alongside)
"Do you like it?"
"YES!!! It's sooo much fun."
"Do you, urm, find it hard? Difficult?"
"The dancing? Yes. . . it's pretty tricky!"
"What? No it's easy"
"Ohh Okay"
(The silence while you wait for one another to make a move)
"You're very beautiful you know"(Yet again embarrassed squirmy Gemma)
"Thank you" - quietly -
"So, I finish playing in the band in an hour, can I see you then?"
"Yeah sure"
"Can I have a kiss then?"
Gemma's brain attempts to begin the worry process
- Should you gemma? I mean think about . . . -
wait, there's nothing holding me back and no reason why not to...
"Yes" (sly grin)
"Can I have a kiss now?"
No thinking required this time.
No thinking required this time.
"Yes"
Aaaaand, I'll tell you the rest when you're older. HAHA - but seriously, I'm sparing you the details. Eew why would you want to know?
I was being a sly lady and broke the kiss off, gave him a final peck to be a little mysterious, and he was sent off on his way to play some pretty music for me to dance too. My Brazilian babes went ballistic and surrounded me going;
OMG, ARE you going to give him your number! WOOOHOOO!
I'm standing there a bit like, 'Did I just do that? Wo-ah. Alright then!'
The rest of the night went by so fast it was unbelievable, we checked the time and it was 1:30. Seriously!? This turned from an, 'I'll catch the last bus home before 12 mum', to one crazy spontaneous adventure. I said goodbye to my friends who were staying longer and my new Brazilian Boy catches me before I walk past.
"You're going now?"
"Mhm"
"Why? Stay longer it'll be fun"
"Yeah but it's late, or early haha and I have to go home"
"Aww, can I have your number"
-Gemma's brain begins to over worry/analyse -
shutup brain, why not.
"Sure"
(Enters number after having difficulty finding the number pad - derp)
"Bye..."
"Bye"
I give him a short kiss and off I go. It feels just a tiny bit cool to be socialising with a band member while they're on stage. Ego boost!
While my friend, her boyfriend and I walk back to his car he asks,
"Was the guy the one on the left?"
"Yeah why?"
"He was checking out your ass when you walked away"
"HAHAHAHA, oh well he can look because I doubt he's getting any"
"Why's that?"
"You know (knowing look between us three), my attentions been grabbed elsewhere"
(laughter)
If only he knew. . . if only.
